Leadership & Legacy In The Kitchen

In May, we brought together our Senior Chefs from all Tanoa properties for a Mentorship Programme, designed not just to refine culinary skills but to foster inspired leadership and peer learning.
As Executive Chef Sarjheel Singh put it, “this workshop is more than just a skills refresher. It’s a celebration of our senior chefs’ dedication and a reminder that growth in the kitchen never stops. We’re creating a space where experience meets evolution, where tradition and innovation cook side by side.”
Throughout the day, chefs explored hands-on techniques, shared ideas and deepened their understanding of what it means to lead in the kitchen. The emphasis was as much on consistency and quality as it was on creativity.
Tanoa’s Area General Manager for Fiji, Mr. Narend Kumar, highlighted the critical role chefs play in delivering a consistently exceptional guest experience.
“Our guests return for the consistency in quality and authenticity that Tanoa Hotels is known for. Workshops like this help strengthen that reputation. Our chefs’ influence shapes the heart of our kitchens.”
The workshop also featured a keynote from Sharol Vere, Head of People and Performance, who brought the focus back to professional development.
“We believe in investing in our people at every stage of their journey. This workshop recognises the deep expertise our senior chefs bring and supports them with the tools to adapt, grow and guide the next generation. It’s about building a stronger team culture through learning and leadership.”
The Chefs Mentorship Workshop is one of many ways Tanoa Hotel Group is supporting its people. Not just to succeed in their roles but to shape the future of hospitality across Tanoa Hotels. At its core, it’s about more than great food. It’s about growing talent, honouring experience and leading with purpose.
