Tanoa Leads Sustainably

Tanoa Hotels was honoured to be spotlighted as a leading example of sustainable tourism at the 2025 National Hospitality Conference in April, hosted by Fiji National University at The Pearl Resort.
Representing our group was Mr. Lee Stewart, CEO of ESG Strategy Australia and a key architect of Tanoa’s sustainability roadmap. Lee delivered a compelling keynote on Sustainable Practices in SMART Tourism, using Tanoa as a case study in how hospitality can lead with purpose not just promise.
The conference provided a powerful platform to share the real, tangible actions we’re taking to embed sustainability into every part of our operations. From cutting emissions and reducing waste, to investing in hydroponic gardens and supporting the wellbeing of our staff and communities across Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga, sustainability at Tanoa is not an add-on. It’s our foundation.
As a proudly family-owned hotel group with deep Pacific roots, we believe genuine hospitality is inseparable from environmental and social responsibility.
Lee’s presentation highlighted our climate commitments and inclusive guest experiences, such as group mangrove planting, as well as our strong governance framework that keeps sustainability at the heart of our strategy, not just a seasonal campaign. Whether it’s energy-saving systems in guest rooms, innovative waste management, local sourcing, or nature restoration, every initiative is a step toward a more resilient Pacific.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fiji National University and the event organisers. It was a privilege to stand alongside fellow changemakers shaping the future of tourism in our region.
At Tanoa, we’re not just welcoming guests, we’re helping build a sustainable Pacific for generations to come.
