Cleaning up 246kg of Waste in an Hour

On Wednesday, 13 May, Team Tanoa Waterfront and Tanoa Hotel Group corporate staff rolled up their sleeves and took on the foreshore, combining employee wellness with meaningful CSR action. Working during the morning low tide from 9am to 10am, the team focused on cleaning the waterfront area and promoting environmental sustainability within the community.

The results speak for themselves. 226kg of general waste and 20kg of recyclable plastic – a combined 246kg hauled off Fiji’s foreshore in a single hour. The effort was a vivid reminder of how quickly waste accumulates in coastal areas, and just how much difference a motivated team can make.

Beyond the bags of rubbish, the morning was about people. Staff stepped away from their desks, worked shoulder to shoulder, and shared in something larger than the daily routine – a tangible act of care for the coastline they call home. For the Tanoa Hotel Group, initiatives like this are more than a tick on a CSR calendar. They reflect a genuine commitment to community, to responsible stewardship of Fiji’s extraordinary natural environment, and to inspiring the kind of action that protects it for future generations.
